Developing a finished painting
August 31-September 2, a 3 day intensive, in-studio (air conditioned) workshop that will focus on how to take your studies and reference and refine a painting idea, from sketches to finished larger scale painting. The studio we will use is right next to the McRae art studio, home to myself and 19 very talented artists.
Day one: sketch development: color ideas, composition
Day two: blocking in a 20×30 (maybe bigger),
Day three: Finish and final decisions

So… How did it go?
Would you consider doing another one of these intensive, in-studio workshops in January 2013?
It went really well, I had 11 students and all did amazing work. I learned from the class two things; find a bigger venue so that everyone has space to work, even if it means it’s more expensive, it’d be totally worth it and provide more structure in the middle. Day one, small studies. Day two medium studies. Day three start final, and preferably, day 4 finish. 3 day is a little short for this kind of class. And if I’m gonna blue sky it a 5 day would be a ton better.
Oh and yeah I’m going to offer another class like it. Not sure about January, I think I have two classes already lined up then.
