Demo 2
The idea here is to quickly lay in and establish key values (darkest dark) and mass in color relationships. Think broad shapes and little detail.
Demo 3
Continue to develop relationships and work the whole canvas at once.
Demo 4
Once all pieces parts are joined, it's time to start tweaking color, value, brush work and shapes all with the intent of furthering the mood and creating better balance in oerder to guide the viewers eye.
Final
The secret to a good painting may start with a good approach but it’s mostly all in the finish. Using a critical eye, I'm looking for edges and strokes that need hardening or softening, values and colors that need enhancing so that my eye can skip freely about the visual playground without getting tripped up by a sore thumb.
